If we talk of a first center for treatment of psychological sickness in Wisconsin, Winnebago psychological fitness Institute or WMHI is the 1st facility that is evoked. Found at Lake Winnebago's west shore, this state facility has about 1300 acknowledgments each year and a mean of 250 patients. Originally named North Asylum for the Insane, its name was later modified to Winnebago State Surgery before the name was again modified to Winnebago psychological fitness Institute. The 1st one is known as Adult Service one, composed from forensic units.

There are numerous treatment activities in WMHI. Care plan is outlined for each patient to pinpoint the frequency of sessions that he must bear. A clinical staff writes notes for each visit. The attending psychiatrist meets the treatment team on a consistent basis to check the treatment plan.

The attending psychiatrist determines and orders the medicine according to the individual patient's treatment plan. Psychotropic medicine is employed to reach treatment goals and reduce chance of injury and violence. Group therapy is another sort of treatment, where issues of each patient are shared and solutions are discussed. However, the facility is faced with furore recently. Town inspectors found violations of the hospice. Infractions include failure to protect patient's rights like the legal right to be protected from violent and sexual behaviors of other patients, to have privacy and to be in a secure environment.

Other violations include medicine blunders and failure to fix environmental perils and infection control in the facility. Inside a period of 2 years, 3 deaths and one rape case were reported.

These, among other issues, have caused authorities to cite the facility for neglect and shortage of attention.

Reports indicate that poor supervision and staffing as well as bad judgment in medicine caused these issues. Due to this, the govt ordered the facility to correct the issues by 2008. Otherwise, it shall lose its Fed. funding for both Medicaid and Medicare. With this development, lawmakers have introduced a bipartisan bill requiring all patient deaths in the facility be analyzed. This is to make more transparency and accountability to the taxpayers. Infirmary officers cite loss as the rationale why there isn't enough staff in the facility. Due to such money losses, there aren't really enough staff to maintain hospice safety and provide better service to patients. In spite of these issues the Winnebago psychological well-being Institute has, infirmary officers continue to try hard to give quality treatment to their patients.
